Ron Boehm was at an investor meeting at Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. He had been thinking of an idea to start a social enterprise to help the farmers in Africa. A chance meeting with a student, Nishant Banore, gave way to the social impact organization being realised in India, DestaGlobal, focusing on positively impacting agriculture.
Technology, as the experts say, is the future and we agreed. So in June 2015, we launched a B2B e-commerce portal for agriculture inputs. Aptly named ‘DestaMart’, it connects agriculture manufacturers with agriculture retailers. Additionally, to aid the farmers and to keep them abreast about the ever-growing agriculture industry, we launched the informative portal ‘DestaTalk’ in May 2015. This portal also gave them a chance to reach out to us with their queries and success stories.
DestaGlobal team worked on building a strong network of farmers, agriculture manufacturers, and agriculture dealers using online and offline mediums to provide agriculture inputs at the right time and right price.
In the later part of 2017 we built a robust CRM system to capture the market data and to bring excellence in the consumer facing functions, hence creating a strong Business Development and Call Centre teams. Our tech-savvy field teams use mobile application to report their work.
In the last few years, with the boost in mobile phone and internet usage in the rural areas we launched two easy-to-use mobile applications, bringing the urban world trends to the rural areas. With the Siddhi Kisan app and Siddhi Dealer app, clubbed with DestaMart website, we aim to bring absolute transparency to the agriculture input ecosystem, thereby increasing profitability and quality of produce.
Currently, our Siddhi Kisan app has seen 1,00,000+ downloads, Siddhi Dealer app has seen 3,300+ downloads, and we have 130+ Manufacturers registered on our DestaMart website.
